On bench Saturday

Dos Santos (nose) is on the bench in Saturday's match against Cincinnati.

Analysis: Dos Santos had just made his first appearance of the season before missing two contests with a nose issue. He's now available but will have to compete for the spot with Saturday's starter Duran Ferree and late signing Jacob Jackson.

Dealing with nose issue

Dos Santos is currently sidelined after coach Mikey Varas revealed that "CJ has a nose injury. It shouldn't be a long term, but it's also definitely not a quick turnaround, so he just needs to focus on his recovery to be able to play again", SanDiego Futbol reports.

Analysis: Dos Santos is expected to miss some time, even though his problem is not considered extremely serious, as the club already signed Jacob Jackson to provide backup alongside Duran Ferree for the next few weeks. Dos Santos got hurt in his first MLS start of the year, where he made two saves and conceded one goal to Los Angeles FC.

Two saves in season debut

Dos Santos was injured and subbed out in the 98th minute of Saturday's 2-2 draw against Los Angeles Football Club. He registered two saves and allowed one goal before exiting the match.

Analysis: Dos Santos made two saves in Saturday's 2-2 MLS draw with LAFC, keeping San Diego on track for a first home win of the month in his season debut before Ryan Hollingshead pounced to bundle home Mathieu Choiniere's pass in the 104th minute, snatching away all three points in the dying chaos of a heavily extended stoppage time stretch. He was rock solid in his positioning on both stops, including a sharp reaction save on a Denis Bouanga effort in the 85th minute, but had no chance on Hollingshead's point-blank finish off the set piece. Dos Santos was unfortunately forced off injured in the 89th minute, which should open the door for Duran Ferree to start in goal again with Pablo Sisniega (back) still sidelined.
